On April 9, 2020 at approximately 8:53pm officers from the City of The Dalles Police Department responded to a shooting call at 1816 West 10th Street in The Dalles, according to Patrick Ashmore, chief of police.
The Dalles Police Department will begin looking for an armored vehicle to provide defensive protection for officers and citizens alike, as the police chief told officials he felt the city was on borrowed time in terms of unacceptable risk to officers.
The Dalles City Council on Monday unanimously approved a permit system for RV parking on city streets, and modified current on-street parking restrictions for RVs and oversized vehicles to allow for vehicles in violation to be impounded and towed 24 hours after the posting of the first $20 citation.
The Dalles Police Chief Patrick Ashmore said Wednesday no more information would be released regarding the officer-involved fatal shooting last Saturday night, including the name of the officer, until the district attorney releases his findings.
A group that formed last year to tackle issues facing the homeless is planning an event in late January to provide a range of services for them, including veterinarian care for their pets. Called “The Community Connection,” the day-long event is slated for Wednesday, Jan. 30, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the basement of the Mid-Columbia Senior Center, 1112 W. 9th St., The Dalles.
The Dalles Police chief Patrick Ashmore reported that a The Dalles man has been charged with assault after Friday’s 8:28 p.m. crash at the intersection of E. Second and Washington streets in The Dalles.
Detective Sgt. Jamie Carrico, a 22-year veteran of The Dalles Police Department, was named the department’s captain this month. He will replace Capt. Steve Baska, who is retiring in August.
