To the editor: “Trust takes years to build, seconds to break, and forever to repair.” Author unknown. For many years, I trusted our congressman, Greg Walden. Even though I’ve always been a Democrat, I voted for him. I can’t say it took just “seconds” for Mr. Walden to break my trust, but over the past few years, during which he voted ENTIRELY along party lines (even though many of his constituents crossed their party lines to vote for him), my trust in him was broken, and it cannot be repaired.

Eight terms later, Second District Democrats are still clamoring that Rep. Greg Walden’s political success is an anomaly, based in large part because he hasn’t had any competition. We say, poppycock.
