Fifty members of an Oregon National Guard unit with a presence in the Gorge travelled this week to Washington, D.C. to support the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th president of the United States.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber has issued an emergency declaration in response to wildfires. Kitzhaber's verbal declaration on Wednesday enables the Oregon National Guard to assist with firefighting as needed.
OREGON NATIONAL Guard’s Alpha Company 3-116 Cavalry, based in The Dalles, celebrated Christmas Dec. 7 with a party at the Shilo Inn catered by the Portage Grill. In attendance were 49 families with children and a total of 127 soldiers. Only two families were unable to attend due to snowy weather.
The Oregon National Guard hopes to add churches and faith-based groups in The Dalles to its new network of communities providing outreach to military members and their families.
