In their final regular-season match, under warm conditions, the Riverhawks managed one singles win and had the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams pick up third-set tiebreaker victories in a 5-3 road loss to the Eagles in a league match played Thursday.
This past Friday and Saturday, The Dalles girls’ tennis team had an opportunity to sharpen up its skills in four matches against Crescent Valley, Bend, Pendleton and Mountain View at the two-day 5A Dual State Championships held in Bend.
The Dalles posted two easy wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but ended up losing two matches in third-set match-breakers, as Hood River Valley swept doubles play to move ahead for a 6-2 league victory Tuesday in a league match played at Hood River High School. “It was a tough loss for us because, again, we had two very close matches that did not go our way,” said TD head coach Debby Jones.
The Lady Riverhawks ended up in a 4-4 draw, but won on set points, 10-8, claiming victory over Hermiston for the first time in a decade Wednesday afternoon under the hot sun in league action at The Dalles High School.
