State fire assistance was mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Mile Marker 119 Fire, located in Klickitat County, west of the Town of Roosevelt.

The effort to contain three fires in southeastern Washington farm country last month included fire crews from Klickitat County.

Shortly after noon on Sunday, a fast-moving grass fire was reported in the area of Oak Creek Road in the Dallesport area. The fire quickly grew and spread east toward the town of Wishram.

The fire danger rating on Klickitat County lands protected by the state Department of Natural Resources went from “moderate” to “high” last Saturday, the DNR announced the day before.
