It seems like as the summer progresses, The Dalles Swim Team is re-setting the benchmark as one of the top youth programs in the state.
Of The Dalles’ 18 swimmers competing at Saturday’s La Grande Invitational, 14 posted personal records and there were 22 all-time best times recorded, as both the girls and boys combined for 465.5 points and a tie for third place with Baker City in the five-team field.

The Dalles swim team finished off the summer season with ninth-place honors, as the group of 39 combined for 19 top-10 placings, six in the relays, and Lydia DiGennaro, Kendall Webber, Maverick Varland, Kaiya Doty, Rhett Loughmiller, Thatcher Dray and Skyler Coburn added solid ‘B’ times at the three-day Bend Open ending Aug. 12.
The Hood River Valley high school swim team ended its season last weekend in Gresham at the OSAA Swimming State Championship.
