The Port of Cascade Locks Commission has hired Mark Johnson as the Port Government Affairs Manager. As Government Affairs Manager, Johnson will lead Port efforts to influence legislation to benefit the Port and the community of Cascade Locks.

Mark Johnson has separated himself from a racist comment attributed to him, and separated himself officially from the Hood River County School District Board of Directors, on which he has served since 2005.

Mark Johnson announced Friday morning he will resign from the Hood River County School Board, effective April 25, the board’s next meeting date.

About 30 community members attended a Wednesday work session between educators and public safety officials, a 90-minute round table to assess existing and potential practices and policies aimed at ensuring and improving student safety.
