This past Saturday in Tigard, former wrestling coaches Kevin Kramer and Roger Rolen were inducted into the Oregon chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for their lifetime achievement in the sport, joining past selections Rich Rolen and Dennis Radford.
Before the start of Tuesday’s Columbia River Conference dual, in a front of a big crowd at Kurtz Gym, The Dalles wrestling program honored former wrestler Spud Simer in an emotional pre-match ceremony. Simer, 27, a 2007 Dufur High School graduate who died in a farming accident on July 30, wrestled under the tutelage of coach Kevin Kramer.
July 28 20 Years Ago-1993 Eldon Hult, a 16-year-old student at The Dalles High School, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to those involved in the program, the Eagle Scout Award.
To the editor: A former resident of The Dalles, Dan Kramer, now living in Key West, Fla., suffered an on-the-job accident on April 4, a fall of 20 feet while trimming a coconut palm. He has worked for 26 years as a licensed arborist. Dan is in serious condition at the Ryder Trauma Center University of Miami Hospital in Miami, Fla. Dan suffered numerous fractures and remains in a coma.
