The HRV Eagles baseball team made quite the opening statement to accompany what they hope will be another deep playoff run, clobbering the Eagle Point Eagles 17-3 in Hood River Wednesday evening in the first round of the OSAA 5A state tournament.

The HRV baseball team suffered its worst loss of the season Tuesday night, falling 9-1 to Hermiston.
The offensive adjustments made by HRV this season continue to pay off for the Eagles, who beat Pendleton for the third time in four days on Tuesday, routing the Buckaroos 11-5 in Pendleton and winning the season series.
The HRV baseball team is clearly focusing on being a title contender again in 2016.
With the CRC title firmly in HRV’s hands, the Eagles were only playing for pride in Friday’s game against The Dalles, who unlike HRV, had a lot to lose — namely the final play-in spot in the Columbia River Conference.
There may not have been much offense to speak of from either team, but Tuesday’s home game between the Hood River Valley Eagles and the Pendleton Buckaroos still provided plenty of excitement.

Despite being underdogs in Friday’s 5A baseball play-in matchup on the road against the 14th-ranked Summit Storm (15-10), the 19th-ranked Hood River Valley Eagles (11-15) claimed a huge 10-0 win to earn themselves a spot in the 16-team state championship bracket.
Hood River Valley junior hurler Ryan Ward pitched his first complete game no-hitter to help lead the Eagles to a 4-0 win over arch rival The Dalles-Wahtonka Eagle Indians in the opening contest of Columbia River Conference baseball doubleheader. HRV’s success continued in game two, as four pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 6-5 win to help coach Eric Harjo’s Eagles earn the impressive sweep Saturday at HRV’s Traner Field.
