Hood River Valley High School volleyball hosted its annual HRV Invitational Tournament Saturday. With home court advantage and momentum from recent wins against Hermiston and The Dalles-Wahtonka, the varsity girls went 5-1 in bracket play to advance to the championship rounds.

Hood River Valley volleyball got a taste of sweet revenge this week as they rallied to a 3-1 win at home Wednesday against The Dalles-Wahtonka. The Eagles, now 5-4 in league play, lost a disappointing 3-2 match on the road in their last meeting against the Columbia River Conference rivals.

Eagle volleyball hosted The Dalles Wahtonka Tuesday evening in the first of four meetings the Columbia River Conference rivals will have this season. The Eagle-Indians, now 0-3 in league play, put up a decent fight against a taller and more athletic Hood River squad, but in the end the Eagles won the contest 25-11, 25-15, 24-26, 25-18.

For the first time in a long time, Hood River Valley High School volleyball picked up a win on the Bulldogs’ turf. The Eagles, now 1-1 in the Columbia River Conference, traveled to Hermiston Tuesday and came away with the first road win against the team in the seven years Scott Walker has been with the Eagles.

In its first two matches of the season, Hood River Valley High School’s varsity volleyball team hosted Pendleton on Tuesday and Lakeridge Thursday evenings. Both matches ended in similar fashion, and although the Eagles lost 1-3 in both, the early-season competition was a good measure of the team’s strengths and weaknesses in time to make adjustments for the bulk of the season.
