Ready to make amends for a loss Tuesday against Pendleton, The Dalles boys’ basketball squad led Hood River Valley 36-30 at the half and 54-47 through three quarters. The Eagle defense then allowed five fourth-quarter field goals, while the offense delivered 10 field goals, three 3-pointers, and shot 12 of 15 from the line in a 34-14 run to defeat the Riverhawks 81-67 Friday at Vannet Court.

After snapping a seven-game losing streak that dated back to Dec. 14, the HRV boys basketball team were unable to keep things rolling as they dropped their last non-league game earlier this week by a final score of 55-64 on the road at Liberty.

Two-days before the HRV boys basketball team would’ve been without a win for a whole month, they finally are able to put an end to the seven game losing streak as they won at home on Friday, Jan. 12 by a final score of 66-44 versus Corbett.

At the beginning of the season, first-year Head Track Coach Brandon Bertram had a lot of questions about his team. The departure of almost all of his athletes from the boys’ 2016 squad that won HRV’s first-ever state track title, combined with fresh faces who had never stepped on a track for competition before, left those questions unanswered through the early part of the season.
