To the editor, In case you missed it, Congressman Greg Walden has announced he will hold 16 town hall meetings around Oregon Congressional District 2, the first such events since April of 2017. In 2017 his press release said that he is “proud to hold regular town hall meetings in all 20 counties in our vast district. They are another great way for me to update my ‘to-do’ list to take back to the nation’s capital.” But after these meetings, where Walden expressed he was there to listen, Walden went into hiding.
Walden needs to answer to his characterization of his constituents’ behavior in that April 2017 session: “Weaponized” is how he termed the town halls of 2017 in deciding “I changed my mind’ when asked about his failure to fulfill his promise to hold a town hall in Hood River County this year.
U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Ore., defeated Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner Tuesday night but credited his opponent for mounting a “relentless” campaign that earned more votes than any of his previous opponents.
Though she lost the U.S. Representative District 2 race to incumbent Rep. Greg Walden (R) on Nov. 6, Jamie McLeod-Skinner said that by narrowing the gap in some of the district’s major counties, she proved that it is possible to go up against the 20-year incumbent.
To the Editor: Prepare for an onslaught of negative ads from our current congressional representative. I’d so much rather hear about his accomplishments, but since he has little to show for his 20 years in Congress, just the few good things for which his committee can take credit, negativity is his fall back.
To the editor: I’m voting for Jamie McLeod-Skinner for U.S. Congress because Medicare, health care and honesty are important to me. Jamie is unequivocal in her support of Medicare and access to affordable health care for everyone. Her opponent and his party are now trying to fool us into thinking that, after years of trying to slash Medicare, abolish the Affordable Care Act, and end protections for pre-existing conditions, that they are champions of health care protections. Not true.
