Windsurfing board tricks, relay races, tandem sailing and attempted acrobatics on the boards are just some of the fun that goes on at the Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association’s King of the Hook event.

My wife, daughters and I had not been camping in almost a year, so when we packed for our four day trip, one of us (meaning me) was bound to forget something like camp chairs, matches, shower slippers or a sweater — maybe even all four.
A welcomed addition to the Hood River Waterfront is quickly taking shape, and with a finish date of the end of February, the new river access at the west end of the Hook will be ready for windsurfers, kayakers and stand-up-paddlers who come out of the woodwork in droves as winter winds down and the river-recreation season rapidly approaches.
