The Dalles boys’ soccer team could have scored two or three goals in a five-minute flurry to start Columbia River Conference action against Hermiston, but the host Bulldogs settled down and broke open a 1-1 halftime tie with two unanswered goals late in the second half in a 3-1 finish at Hermiston High School.

The Dalles girls’ basketball team fell behind 16-5 after one quarter and crept to within a four-point deficit late in the third quarter, but No. 1-ranked Hermiston slammed the door shut in the final period with a 15-5 run to work a 51-36 victory Friday in Columbia River Conference action at Hermiston High School.

Team has five forfeits, but comes close in four matches
