The more I learn about the proposed annexation, the madder I become. A typical home that is assessed a value of $200,000 would pay an additional $600 per year if annexed. The city says that we'll receive "sewer and other services" to justify the higher taxes. I live in the Stonegate development with 33 other homeowners. As a group we already contributed over $100,000 in sewer liens and hook-up fees in addition to our monthly fees. We've paid our fair share for sewer service. As to other services, we are a private development responsible for our own roads, utility infrastructure, and parks and recreation areas. We built them and we maintain them. The city won't maintain them. Not for snow removal nor cleaning.
