1A Boys basketball roundup: Redsides out to a 5-0 boys basketball start; Dufur, Horizon finish week with splits

The South Wasco County High Redsides boys basketball team extended its win streak to five straight games following a 56-30 Class 1A nonleague victory at home over Cove on Dec. 11 in the John Howey Memorial Tournament in Maupin.

Junior forward Ian Ongers led the Redsides in scoring with 18 points. Senior guards Remington Anderson-Sheer (13 points) and Oscar Thomas (17 points) also scored in double figures for the Redsides.

This year has certainly been unusual for high school athletes in more ways than one. It wasn’t that long ago — five months — that area basketball squads finished their short spring season. Now, another one is starting, as teams began practice Nov. 15.
