Mid-Columbia Lions Follies’ “Gilligan’s Island, the Untold Story” continues April 12, 13, and 14 at 7:30 p.m. Follies is an annual fundraiser for Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation (OLSHF). This year, 50 percent of the proceeds will also go to the Hood River Children’s Park playground project.
Columbia Center for the Arts will show Stephen Sondheim’s musical “Follies,” staged for the first time at the National Theater and broadcast live, on Sunday, Feb. 4 beginning at noon.
It’s the year of the Superhero show, starting with the Mid-Columbia Lions Follies. The 2017 show will be “Kid Awesome and the Disco Girls.” It is an original script with story by Terri Tyler and Bev Bridgewater, written by Tyler.
Youngsters have always been a big part of Lions Follies, and this year is no exception. Dozens of kids from 4-18 participate in the musical revue, which closes Friday and Saturday at Hood River Middle School auditorium, 7:30 p.m. Bev Bridgewater directs, and Mike Oates wrote the show, titled “40 Years of Magic,” a tribute to its 40 years. Former kid and Mike’s son, Jimmie Oates, is also in the show.
The Mid-Columbia Lions Follies is celebrating 40 years of performances and presents“40 Years of Magic,” opening April 15 at the historic Hood River Middle School Auditorium. The show will feature selected songs, dances and skits from past shows in a variety format.
