PORTLAND — Ursula K. Le Guin, the award-winning science fiction and fantasy writer who explored feminist themes and was best known for her Earthsea books, has died at 88. Le Guin was well known in the region, and often participated in festivals and workshops sponsored by Klindt’s Booksellers in The Dalles.

The Oregon Women Lawyers Coffee Creek Book Drive will take place April 1-15. Collection boxes will be near the clerks’ offices on the third floors of the Hood River and Wasco county courthouses.

The Oregon Women Lawyers Coffee Creek Book Drive will take place through March 31. There will be collection boxes near the clerks’ offices in each of the 7th Judicial District courthouses. In both Wasco and Hood River counties the boxes will be on the third floors of the courthouses.
