Home with Heroes, a nonprofit organization committed to bringing veterans and active duty military together and into the outdoors to honor and thank them for their service, will have their annual endurance race fundraiser, the 5K Run & Gun, May 27.
The annual Kiteboarding 4 Cancer (KB4C) event returns to the Hood River Waterfront July 15-17, and with this year’s event comes a significant milestone.
To continue building on its reputation as the go-to race organizers for all things related to long distance cycling, The Challenge Series is back for its third event in their 2014 Series, taking place May 10 in Hillsboro.

Except for a brief stint of hot weather earlier this month, the wind has hit the Gorge in full force this summer, as is evident by the numerous wind-chapped, sandblasted and tired — but euphoric — faces you see around town. And since the end of June, an action-packed schedule of events has accompanied the wind, making for a great start to what is sure to be an epic summer on the Columbia River.
Hood River was host to two world-class competitions over the weekend. The sixth-annual Kiteboarding-4-Cancer fundraiser and endurance race (above) brought close to 200 registered competitors and several hundred spectators to the Hood River Event Site to raise money and awareness for cancer survivorship programs.
