The Horizon track and field team finished off their season late last week at the 1A state championship meet at University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene, coming away with new personal records and podium appearances to boot.

The Horizon boys weren’t able to get a threepeat in the Special District 3 championships last Saturday, but both the boys and the girls track teams found plenty of success.

It was fitting that a couple of Andy Hung’s teammates briefly lifted him on their shoulders after it was announced that Horizon Christian School’s boys track and field team had successfully defended its Big Sky district title Saturday in Moro. That symbolic victory ride culminated a roller-coaster, seven hours of teammates supporting teammates through the usual highs and lows of a championship event, which after all was said and done, was decided by two points and a photo finish.
