Trailing by 10 points twice in the third quarter, the Hood River Valley girls basketball team methodically whittled away at the deficit and won its first game Saturday afternoon, 45-41 at Crook County in Prineville.

Prior to an OSAA class 5A play-In game between the 11 ranked Hood River Valley Eagles (16-11) and the struggling St. Helens Lions (7-18), there wasn’t much doubt about the outcome. There was simply no way whatsoever that Hood River would lose. The only question was, would the Eagles throw their first no-hitter of the year?

Prior to a nonleague softball game against the Hood River Valley High Eagles, the Mountain View Cougars probably felt confident about their chance to get a win on April Fool’s Day. Mountain View had home field advantage and a more experienced squad with six seniors.

The Hood River Valley Eagles baseball team utilized error free defense, strong pitching and an explosive offense to get a big win in its final nonleague contest. Ryan Colesar’s game-winning RBI single helped propel the Eagles to a 9-8 victory over the Corvallis Spartans Thursday at Hood River Valley High.
