To the editor: I am writing in support of Kathy Schwartz for county commissioner. I had the opportunity to meet with Kathy recently to talk about agriculture in Wasco County. After a morning of discussion, I can say that Kathy understands the importance of agriculture to Wasco County and is well-informed on many of the issues facing the farming community.

To the editor: I recently joined other local citizens to listen to and speak with Kathy Schwartz. I am writing to share several observations which lead me to urge voters to enthusiastically cast their vote in support of Kathy Schwartz for Wasco County commissioner.

To the editor: While I agree with Mr. Summer’s ‘Hats off to ODFW (Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife)’ for purchasing the land on Tygh Ridge/breaks of the Deschutes, I feel differently about what it should mean.

To the editor: My vote will be for Carolyn Wood for City Council. Why? She is the better qualified candidate. Carolyn has extensive experience in local government. She is hard-working, intelligent and honest. Also, she is from this area; she knows the history and she knows many of our citizens.

It’s time to spread your wings and fly. Put your knowledge to good use by delving into new territories and taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Sticking to your normal routine will not help you achieve your desires. Don’t fear change.

All of us have quitting points in our lives — those times or situations that become so overwhelming or challenging that we simply quit. No matter what you call them — brick walls, insurmountable obstacles, predictable or complete surprises, financial crises — things will never change if you don’t acknowledge they’re real. A key to overcoming the desire to quit is to identify those “brick walls” and then figure out how to crash through them.
