(The Center Square) – It was the winter of 1962. Demonstrators in Birmingham, Alabama, came to see Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for his support in organizing a protest in the segregated city where Black people were forced to sit in the back of buses, couldn't sit at lunch counters with white people, couldn't even drink out of the same fountains as white people.

We’ve had an exciting beginning to a new school year in the Hood River County School District. So many “thank yous” are in order to so many committed HRCSD community members who meaningfully contribute to our vibrant learning community!
