Basketball players from across the state had one final time to wear their school colors at the two-day 1A Oregon Basketball Coaches Association Senior All-Star Series Tournament this past weekend in Sisters. Dufur’s Chloe Beeson and South Wasco County’s Allie Noland were part of an East girls’ team that picked up two wins over the West for top honors, while the Sherman duo of Jacob Justesen and Treve Martin played to a 1-1 record, losing in the championship to the High Desert and Old Oregon League combination for runner-up status.

DUFUR – Recent Dufur High School graduates Curtis Crawford and Chloe Beeson were stalwarts in every sport they played. Last week at Dufur High School, athletic director and superintendent Jack Henderson served as the Master of Ceremonies in the school’s year-end awards banquet and presented awards and scholarships to several students and athletes. Crawford and Beeson were each presented with Ranger of the Year awards for their standout 2017-2018 sports seasons.

Coming off a 43-point loss Friday against defending champion Nixyaawii, the Dufur Rangers rebounded with a dominant performance Saturday in a 49-16 girls’ basketball victory over Lyle. “It was great for us to get the win, but we still have a lot of work to do,” said Dufur head coach Hollie Darden.

DUFUR – When Mikayla Kelly is standing tall at the net, she has an ability to make momentum-changing blocks, change shots and frustrate opposing hitters. The 6-foot sophomore logged a career-high 10 blocks and the team totaled 17 for the match in No. 18 Dufur’s four-set home victory over No. 5 South Wasco County Thursday on senior night in Dufur.

DUFUR – After a one-year break, Kayla Bailey is back and ready to be a driving force behind the surge of the Dufur volleyball team. As one of four setters on the roster, Bailey is looking forward to the chance to take over the role vacated by graduated senior and all-state winner, Sydney Reed.
