Uphill Challenge keys Meadows’ late summer fun

A field of 39 ranging in age from 4 to 71 took on the challenge in first-ever Uphill Challenge at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort, in what is planned to be an annual event. Most ran, but some walked the 1.2-mile course which gained 621 vertical feet from the parking lot to the top of the Stadium Express chairlift.

Meadows stoked to receive summer operations permit

Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort announced with enthusiasm last week that it has been granted a summer operations permit from the U.S. Forest Service. Starting with two one-day events this August, Meadows will be allowed to run limited summer operations for the first time in the ski area’s 46- year history.

STAMPEDE PASS, Wash. (AP) — The instructions for time travel are as follows: Step one: On a winter weekend, follow Interstate 90 east to Exit 62, then drive south until the road ends. Step two: Haul your gear to the southeast corner of the parking lot and step into your skis.
