Portland — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $6.2 million contract to Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to operate and maintain the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, on the Columbia River.
SALEM — Three ODFW fish hatchery facilities in Cascade Locks—Bonneville, Oxbow and Cascade — were evacuated over Labor Day Weekend due to the Eagle Creek Fire. All ODFW staff are currently safe and accounted for and a small number of staff are returning to monitor facilities and fish as they are able.

SALEM (AP) — Oregon has documented a third year in which seven or more breeding pairs of wolves are roaming an eastern area of the state and making a strong recovery, officials said Tuesday. Wolves were hunted to extinction in Oregon in the last century but recently started moving back from neighboring states.
The Carson National Fish Hatchery will hold its 18th Annual Kids’ Fishing Day on Saturday, Sept. 10. The event will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be no registration after 12 noon with fishing wrapping up by 2 p.m.
