Youth and children from throughout the region are invited to a “Back to School Bash” starting at noon Saturday at the Wahtonka Campus of The Dalles High School, 220 E. 10th Street. The event is free, and backpacks with school supplies will be available, along with free haircuts, games and clothing.

The last full weekend in September of each year finds the Wasco County Fairgrounds filled to the brim with what turns out to be one event that is almost “two” – the annual Tygh Valley Bluegrass Jamboree.

July has come and gone, and what a windy one it was! Looking back at the iWindsurf records shows that there has been wind every single day. The least windy day, so far, still gusted to 20 mph. Even with a little bit of heat to finish off the month, there still appears to be enough wind to call it a prefect month!

Stoked Roasters celebrates its second anniversary with a 6-9 p.m. party July 23 at the café, 603 Portway Ave., across from Waterfront Park. The event is also a benefit for LymeLight Foundation, whose mission is to help children and young adults struggling with Lyme disease to gain access and pay for proper medical treatment, and to prevent the long-term effects of Lyme disease through public awareness and education.

It is that time of year again. Labor Day has come and gone. The kids are back in school. We have even had the first snow fall on Mt. Hood. While we still have lots of great water time left, the summer season has passed, and what a great one it was! With warm and windy weather coming early in the “spring,” it felt like the never-ending summer. Our usual events brought a vibrant waterfront feel with the Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association’s Beach Bash, Kiteboard 4 Cancer, Gorge Cup windsurfing races, and more.
