A Giving Tuesday community fundraiser by Columbia Center for the Arts has enabled it to offer 15 full scholarships to children in need of financial assistance to attend an art class this summer.
Alonso Magana, 18, is a freshman at Oregon College of Art and Craft (OCAC) in Portland, majoring in photography. An Odell native, Magana has always been interested in art — he just didn’t think he was any good at it.
Seniors Tove Hanson and Gisela Ayala Echevarria have won Gold Key awards in the Regional Scholastic Art competition. The students’ work was judged against students from other western states, and next they will be considered for national awards in New York later this spring.
New Entries STORY TIME: The Dalles-Wasco County Public Library offers Toddler Time for ages 18 months to 3 years every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Preschool story time, for ages 3 to 6 years, is offered every Friday at 10:30 a.m. Story time provides children with an early group experience that may include great books, songs, finger plays, movement activities, crafts, surprises, special guests and lots of fun.
