After a nearly 40-year existence, the Mid-Columbia Council of Governments has voted to find new homes for its four programs and will cease to function as a direct service provider. The four programs are: transportation, which includes the LINK dial-a-ride as well as a non-emergency medical transport service; the Area Agency on Aging, which helps with meals and other services for seniors; workforce development programs; and regional building codes services.
Even under overcast skies and a light rain, 100 runners and walkers signed up to participate in the 10th annual Jumpstart St. Patrick’s Day event at Lewis and Clark Festival Park on Saturday, March 11 in The Dalles.

Ezekiel Stelzer and Amanda Hoey were the highlights of last weekend’s Wasco County Fair Run/Walk, leading their respective divisions for first place as nearly 30 runners showed up to perform on the tough Tygh valley course. Stelzer won the men’s 5k race with a time of 18 minutes and 17 seconds, nearly two minutes better than his next two opponents.
