The Riverhawks picked up three singles wins from Quinn Wilson, James Pashek and Andy Lopez, but wound up on the wrong side of three third-set match-break setbacks, two in doubles play, in a 5-3 loss to Hermiston Wednesday at The Dalles High School.
In a challenging match against Redmond, The Dalles boys’ tennis team won one set and nearly claimed four others in an 8-0 loss to Redmond in a non-league tennis match played Monday in The Dalles.

With a new head coach in Matthew Dallman and a starting roster of five freshmen, four sophomores and five upperclassmen, The Dalles boys’ soccer team is not worried about a lack of experience, but will rely on teamwork and progression through the regular season
While names like Will Coy, Alex Lopez, Ethan Martin and Pedro Lopez highlighted the varsity action in Wednesday’s 5-3 league match loss on the road against Hood River Valley, The Dalles boys’ tennis coach Shea MacNab was most impressed with one of his up-and-coming standouts, Sanjay Ramanathan. Ramanathan, who has not had the chance to play much this season, put on a dazzling display in his junior varsity match, taking a close 9-7 pro-set loss for his efforts.
Ready to stake claim to more non-league wins to set the momentum for league play later next month, The Dalles boys’ tennis team finished strong in doubles and singles competition for an 8-0 shutout victory over Mac-Hi. “All of our singles and doubles players had outstanding matches,” said The Dalles Riverhawk head tennis coach Shea Macnab. In four singles matches, the Riverhawk quartet of William Coy, Daniel Santillan, Omar Rodriguez and Alex Lopez took home straight-set wins by an average of 9.25 points.
