Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
William “Willy” Lee Lauterbach, 65, passed away painlessly and peacefully at his home in Port Ludlow on Dec. 20, 2019, with lifelong friends at his side, and with the aid of Hospice.
Willy was born in Hood River, Ore., to Bill and Kathleen (Williams) Lauterbach and spent his youth in White Salmon, prior to finishing high school at Lincoln High in Portland, Ore. He attended Western Washington University in Bellingham, studying political science while gaining employment in specialty automotive sales across the United States.
Later in life, he was reacquainted with his old high school girlfriend and future wife Linda Leask from Lincoln. They enjoyed over 20 years of marriage while Linda pursued her architectural career up and down the West Coast. Willy’s interests turned to investing.
Willy and Linda enjoyed the fine arts, antique collecting, traveling, and boating in the Puget Sound and along the Columbia River.
Willy is preceded in death by his father Bill Lauterbach of Castle Rock and his wife Linda, but just over a short year.
He is survived by his mother Kathleen Hamm of Vancouver, an historic White Salmon Valley extended family, and many friends.
The service, burial and reception for William Lauterbach will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Gardner Funeral Home.
