Former Glenwood resident William G. Whitefield, 85, died Jan. 4, 2015, at his home in Kennewick.
At his request, no service will be held, however at a later date his ashes will be scattered near Glenwood, WA where he raised his family.
Mr. Whitefield was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Garden Grove, Calif., to Frederick and Lena Whitefield. He was married to Marian Joyce Porter Feb. 10, 1951 in White Salmon.
He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.
Bill and Marian owned and operated Bill’s Shell Service in Glenwood for 24 years. He also was a diesel mechanic at St. Regis for many years. Bill worked hard to support his family often working seven days a week for 14 hours a day, but still found the time to enjoy the things he loved doing such as, taking his kids fishing, camping, and snowmobiling. He also enjoyed bowling on the weekend on a league team and always enjoyed watching baseball, football and basketball.
He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.
William is predeceased by both his parents, brothers Frederick Stanley Jr and Kenneth Wayne as well as sisters Beatrice Lawrence, Rosa Lee Barber and Norma Grubb.
His survivors include wife Marian residing in Kennewick; children Robert (Shelley) Whitefield in Trout Lake, Sandra (Richard) Barrickman in Kennewick, Joni (Tim) Coble in Phoenix, Ariz., Brian (Cindy) Whitefield in Glenwood, and Kelly (Bradley) Wellenbrock in Kennewick. Also, survivors include 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, brother Robert (Nancy) Whitefield, sister Francis Bennett and many nieces and nephews.
