Violet Lee Kenward, 84, passed away peacefully Dec. 12, 2014, at her home in Hood River, Ore., surrounded by those she loved. Violet was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Somerset, Pa., to Sherman D. Murray and Bertha Lee Pollitt. She graduated from Frostburg High School in Frostburg, Md., and attended college at Cumberland, Md.
On Aug. 5, 1951, Violet married Richard D. Kenward in Washington, D.C., and was blessed with two children: Rowena and Richard. She lived in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Stockholm, Sweden, Minot, N.D., London, England, and Hood River.
Violet was an active homemaker and enjoyed needlework, painting and reading. She was a member of Hazel Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary and the Lutheran Church.
Violet is survived by her husband of 63 years, Richard D. Kenward, at their home in Hood River; daughter, Rowena S. Deyne, of Hood River; son, Richard David Kenward, of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, distant family and a host of friends that she has collected over the years.
Memorials are encouraged to be made to Providence Hospice of the Gorge.
