Theresa Mary Franks passed away on Aug. 22, 2018, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Ore. She was 84 years of age at the time of her passing.
Theresa was born on Feb. 26, 1934, in New York, N.Y., to Mary and Kenneth Gilbert. She was one of four children. Her siblings, Kenneth, Walter and Mae, all preceded her in death.
She married her high school sweetheart, Lars Amor Larsen, in Connecticut. The couple had three daughters, Mary Kathleen, Marcy Ann and Lisa Marie. The young family lived in Connecticut and Orlando, Fla. Lars, passed away at age 32 from cancer.
Theresa later married James Carl Franks, who was a Captain in the Air Force. They lived in Florida, North Dakota and eventually settled in the Hood River Valley when James retired from the military.
Later in life, Theresa returned to school and obtained an associates’ degree in business. She enjoyed many hobbies, including weaving, spinning, knitting, sewing, cooking, baking, reading and gardening.
Theresa is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Marcy; grandchildren, Krista and Michael; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1501 Belmont Ave., Hood River, with a reception following at Anderson’s Tribute Center. Interment will be private at Idlewilde Cemetery, 980 Tucker Road, Hood River.
