Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
At age 77 and surrounded by loved ones, Shirley T. Keran gave a final wink goodbye on July 14, 2010, in Ariel, Wash., and is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gertrude Orth, her brother, Chuck, and her sister, Pat.
She is survived by her four children: Leslie (Paul) Lanquist, of Ariel, Wash., Christopher (Wendy) Keran, of Lino Lakes, Minn., Paula (Michael) O’Gorman, of Underwood, Wash., and Anthony (Shezni) Keran, of Bandos, Maldives; her grandchildren: Nicholas, Daniel, Matthew, Megan, Alexa, Jaxson, Aiyana and Sean; and her close and special friends Karen and Jon Madian, Betty Herman and Leeza Scribner.
Shirley faced her many challenges in life with courage, caring and confidence, including those more recent challenges which ravaged her body and then her mind, yet could never sap her independent spirit.
A gathering to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at 5 p.m. July 29 at the home of Paula O’Gorman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Maryknoll Lay Missioners, American Academy of Neurology Foundation, the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. A private interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery, Trout Lake, Wash., at a later date.
