Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Scott Nielson, of Vancouver, passed peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, from complications of a brain tumor, he was 46 years old.
Scott, was born on June 18, 1970, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Dean and Elizabeth Nielson. In 1988, he graduated from Columbia High School in White Salmon. After high school, he served an honorable two year LDS mission to England. Following his return, Scott began his lifelong career in contracting and homebuilding in the Columbia Gorge area.
The most important thing in Scott’s life were his three children, whom he lovingly called: Chunky, Pumpkin, and Baby; he considered them as life’s greatest blessing. Scott was described as “larger than life” and he gave a whole new meaning to a bear hug. He helped those around him in any way he could, even if it was just making them smile.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful mother, Elizabeth Nielson. He is survived by his three children; Scott Jr., Ramy and Victoria, whom he loved; his father, Dean Nielson; and his six siblings: Rex Nielson, Rhonda Grillone, Trisha Mataele, Julie Bradfield, Keith Nielson and Kent Nielson and their families.
If you would like to join in celebrating Scott’s life, a funeral will be held in his honor on Feb. 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Stevenson Ward Building, 650 Northwest Gropper Road, Stevenson.
We would like to put a book of remembrance together for Scott’s children. If you have any stories or experiences you would like to share, email them to Trisham3417@gmail.com
