Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Russell White passed away Oct. 1, 2016, in Hood River, Ore., with family by his side at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital. Russell was born May 11, 1924, in Omaha, Neb., and was 92 years of age at the time of his passing.
Russell retired from the Columbia River Scaling Bureau and was able to enjoy his hobbies of square dancing with wife, Myrtle, serving as director of the Senior Center and, of course, spending many hours in his wood shop working. An accomplished and talented craftsman, Russell remodeled their home, building all of the interior cabinetry and a new kitchen. Later in life and with fine results, Russell took up wood carving, which he enjoyed right up to his passing.
Russell is survived by his children William R. White and Patricia White, grandchildren Stacey E. Mott, Brooke P. Peyton, Ann Senetar and Kim Goetz, many great grandchildren and four great grandchildren, Melanie, John, Natalie and Quentin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle, in 2015.
A graveside gathering is tentatively planned for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11 at Mountain View Cemetery, 1235 Tucker Road, Hood River.
“Many heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors of Providence Hood River’s Acute Care Unit. Their amazing care and complete communication surrounded our family with much needed support during the last days of Russell’s life, and to our many friends and family members who also supported us during this difficult time.”
Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
