Roger Gilkey Anderson

Roger Gilkey Anderson was born Jan. 18, 1933, in The Dalles, Oregon, and raised on his father’s nearby wheat ranch. After training as an electrician in the U.S. Nat’l Guard, he served at Vandenberg AFB, then worked as an electrician and sound technician in San Francisco, CA, for many years, rehabbing houses, among other interests, in his spare time. In 1987, he retired to San Diego, a city he fell in love with while on a motorcycle trip as a teenager. In addition to his 30+ years of AA affiliations, Roger was dedicated to the Rosicrucian Fellowship. He loved animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats, and rescued numerous strays during his life. He passed away peacefully July 27 at the Bradley Court care facility.

Memorial services will be held Wed., 9/3/14, 11 a.m., at the memorial bench being dedicated to Roger in Balboa Park, 6th & Upas St. entrance, San Diego, CA. Please direct any memorial donations to your nearest no-kill animal shelter.
