Paul H. Green passed away on Aug. 13, 2018, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Ore. He was 93 years young. Paul was born on June 13, 1925, in Linden, Penn. According to his mother, Ada B. Green, he was quite a scallywag. He enlisted in the Navy and proudly served aboard the USS Thetis Bay during World War II in the Pacific from September 1943 to May 1946. After being honorably discharged, he met and married Barbara Lee Hill, the love of his life. They were married for 71 years.
Paul and Barbara relocated to the West Coast for a job opportunity and lived in Torrance, Calif., from 1961 to 2016. He worked hard and secured a job as plant manager at Ward Engineering in order to support his wife and daughters, Nancy and Tracy. But Paul played hard as well. He loved to travel. He played golf, tennis and bridge. He was a member of the West End Tennis Club and The Jack Kramer Club. He thoroughly loved life! He recently relocated to Oregon to be near his daughters. He passed away peacefully with family by his side.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; his daughters, Tracy and Nancy; son-in-law Karl; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at the home of Nancy Horvat at 4531 Riverside Drive, Hood River, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3.
