Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Patrick “Pat” J. Irving, 62, passed away in his home in Cascade Locks, Ore., on Dec. 16, 2015. Pat was born in Hood River, Ore., on Feb. 4, 1953, and Cascade Locks was his home for almost all of his life.
Pat attended Cascade Locks School and graduated there in 1971. He was a good athlete and excelled in basketball and track, but his true love was football. No one on the field would try harder than Pat. After high school he entered the Army and spent most of his service in Germany working on tanks.
Pat worked several jobs throughout his life after military including millwork, bus driving, construction and production work.
In later years, Pat’s love of animals will be remembered. The welfare and care of neglected, abused, or just needy animals was dear to his heart.
Pat was preceded in death by his mother, Dessie Bilyeu, and is survived by his son James Irving, of Dallesport, Wash.; his stepfather, Gary “Sam” Bilyeu, of The Dalles, Ore.; brothers Michael C. Irving, of Cascade Locks, Richard Irving, of The Dalles, Ore., and Victor Bilyeu, of Gresham, Ore.; and sister Twyla Clark, of Rainier, Wash.
Pat worked in various jobs during his life, until he became disabled.
Pat requested there be no service and his family will respect his wishes.
