Patricia May Lain, 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, with her children by her side.
She was born Patricia May Amer on July 30, 1933, in Villa Grove, Colo., one of five children born to Temple and Dallas Amer.
Pat and her deceased former husband, Jack G. Lain, moved extensively with his naval career, to include California, Florida, and finally to Washington state. Each of their three children were born at a different Naval Air Station.
She enjoyed retirement years spent with winters at her home Yuma, Ariz., and summers in Hood River, Ore., with her son, Nathan and his wife, Sandi.
Over the years, Pat worked as a seamstress in a military tailor shop, waitressing in coffee shops and finally retired from the production line at Luhr Jensen in 1998.
Pat enjoyed warm climates, gin martinis, golfing and singing karaoke with her Yuma friends. She and her companion, Frank Moore, were active volunteers in the American Legion post in Yuma, and she often spoke fondly of her participation in the children’s programs during the holiday season.
Pat is survived by her sisters, Dolores Daily and Elizabeth Davis; her son, Nathan Lain, and his wife, Sandi; her daughters, Lorinda Lain and Jacqueline Whieldon and her husband, Tom; grandchildren Tom Moss and Cassandra and Alana Whieldon; great-granddaughter Emily Phillips and her husband, Josh; and great-great-granddaughter Breaunna Phillips.
Pat is remembered for her easy-going nature and soft-spoken demeanor. She loved to be on the go-go-go. Her last road trip will be to the Oregon coast in a private family celebration of her life.
Her family suggests donations be made to Hospice of the Gorge, and sent in care of Anderson’s Tribute Center (Funerals, Receptions, Cremations), 1401 Belmont Ave., Hood River, OR 97031; 541-386-1000. Please visit www.andersonstributecenter.com to sign the family guest book.
