Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Ruth Helen Frick Turner was born on March 27, 1931, to Warren and Lanora Frick in Hood River, Oregon. She passed on Dec. 6, 2025. Ruth’s father died in 1938 and Lanora’s mother, Aletha Webb, came to live with them. They moved to Monmouth, Oregon, so Lanora could get her teaching credential. They returned to Hood River in 1942, where Lanora taught at Park Street School.
Lanora and her family were members of Asbury United Methodist Church, where Ruth was enrolled as a child. The church was always extremely important. Ruth graduated high school in 1948.
Ruth went to college to become a teacher, where she met Marvin Turner, the love of her life. They married at Asbury Methodist Church in 1950. Marvin was drafted into the Marine Corps and during the next two years, they were in North Carolina, where their son Tom was born.
After the Marine Corps Marv got a teaching job in Pendleton, Oregon, where Susan was born. After eight years, they moved to Hood River, where Ruth taught for 20 years, and where Ruth joined Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Music was an important part of Ruth’s life. As a pianist and accompanist, she played for soloists and choirs at college and at church. She and Marv loved to play guitar and uke together.
They loved to travel both overseas and in the U.S.
Survivors include brother Bill Frick and his wife Lenore of New York, and son Thomas Warren Turner (Nancy) of Redding, California. Ruth was predeceased by Marvin Turner and Susan Turner.
