Lieutenant Colonel Paul Robert Munsell Jr., 79, passed away on June 11, 2025, in Depoe Bay, Oregon, with his beloved dogs at his side. The only child of Paul Munsell Sr. and Margaret Chamberlin Munsell, Paul was born in Portland, a 1963 graduate of Franklin High School and a proud Oregon State Beaver. He served with distinction in the Air Force, receiving a Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. He wore a lot of hats — officer, businessman, fisherman, civil servant, retiring from the 939th Air Rescue.
He was the proud father of Denyc (Jeff) Boles and Mark (Linda) Munsell and grandfather of Maggie (Beeb), Michael, and Anna (Jon). Paul lived life with passion and sought adventure, loving the outdoors and traveling. He was a loyal friend and loved to be with people.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on July 8 at 1 p.m. at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland. Burial at sea will follow on July 10 at 2 p.m. at Dockside Charters, 270 Coast Guard Drive, Depoe Bay, Oregon. A celebration of life will take place later that day at the Salishack, beginning at 3:30 p.m., located at 6725 Gleneden Beach Loop, Gleneden Beach, Oregon.
