Maxine Negley

Maxine Negley

Maxine Alice Negley (née Ballweber) passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, in Portland, Oregon just short of her 101st birthday. Born on March 30, 1924, in Parkdale, Oregon, Maxine lived a full century marked by dedication to family, community, and a life well-lived.

Maxine spent nearly her entire life in the Hood River Valley, a place she called home for more than 100 years. Only in the final four months of her life did she move to Portland to be closer to her daughter. Her deep roots in the valley were reflected in her long-standing connections and contributions to the community.

Condolences to all of Maxine's family. I knew your mother/grandmother when I was little. My dad (Ted Perry) also worked at the Electric Co-op, both on Tucker Road and in Odell. She was always so kind to me when I visited the office or called to talk to my dad. I remember her having mints (those white butter mints with green in the middle) ready for a treat! I know my dad relied on her good work, because her name was always spoken with respect in our home. May she rest in peace. - Candy Perry Wakamatsu
