MaxE Cecil Clampitt went to the loving arms of Jesus on Dec. 22, 2024. The oldest of four sons, he was born Nov. 11, 1930, in Almond, North Carolina, to Norman and Effie Higdon Clampitt.
MaxE attended school in Bryson City and Swain County High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army, serving honorably for three years. He moved west to Oregon to live and work until the end of his life.
He will be missed by his wife of 58 years, LaVelle; son Mike; granddaughters Amanda and Megan; brothers Norman (Jeanetta) and Monty (Diana); and dear friend Dorothy, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
MaxE was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter Regina, brother Broadus, and sister-in-law Anita.
MaxE’s ashes will be buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Goldendale, Washington. Arrangements under the direction of Anderson's Tribute Center Celilo Chapel, 204 E. Fourth St., The Dalles, Oregon. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
