Larry Sprague

Larry Sprague

Larry Robert Sprague passed away on Feb. 9, 2025, after a 10-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease at Family Choice Adult Family Home in Auburn, Washington. He was born on Oct. 29, 1946, in Los Angeles, California, to Russell and Alberta (Booher) Sprague, and at 2 months, he and his twin brother moved with their parents to Glenwood, Washington. He lived there with his five brothers and sisters until graduating in 1965 from Glenwood High School. He then attended Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, graduating in 1967 with an Associate of Applied Arts degree in diesel mechanics.

Also in 1967, Larry married Sharon (Ravine) Sprague in Zillah, Washington. Their first home was in Vancouver and Larry worked at Lamm Motor Company in Portland, Oregon. In 1968, he was drafted into the army, sent to Ft. Lewis for basic and then to Ft. Riley, Kansas, for a few months before being sent to Vietnam in October for his 21st birthday. While there, his assignment was working in the motor pool and running a wrecker, retrieving broken down vehicles because they couldn’t be left out overnight. He must have been pretty good at it because he received a Bronze Star and a Commendation Medal for his service. He was in the country until September 1968. He came home by way of Hawaii and must have upset one of his superiors because he spent two weeks on KP peeling potatoes before someone said, “Get your stuff” and put him on a plane.
