Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Joseph Lamoreaux passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 21, 2024, in White Salmon, Washington. Joe was born on Nov. 19, 1939. He was preceded in death by his spouse Yoshiko. Originally from Okinawa, she immigrated to this country with Joe in 1963.
Joe is survived by his three children, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother.
Music was very important in his life, and he was a member of the bluegrass band with two brothers and a nephew named the Strawberry Mountain Boys. Joe enjoyed long term employment as White Salmon Valley School District's maintenance supervisor.

I served in the Air Force with Joe at Chanute AFB, IL from 1967-69. Joe had just returned to the states after a serving a year in Vietnam. Joe was my supervisor. He was the one who motivated me and gave me the inspiration to be whatever I wanted to be. Ironically, when I left Chanute in 1969 I was stationed at the very same base as Joe in Vietnam. While I was supervised by Joe, I thought he was the smartest man in the world. We became real good friends and he invited me to his home many times. I got to know his family, which then consisted of his wife Yoshiko, his daughter Mitzi and his son Ray. We remained friends for years. In January 1986 I visited his home and met the new addition to his family, his son Kenny. Watched the Super Bowl together. It was year when the Chicago Bears had that great team. We would exchange Christmas cards for a number of years, and email one another from time to time. I just learned about his passing. I cried. He was one of the most influential people in my life. I wish blessings and condolences to his family. God be with you all. Friend always, Attorney Ralph Thomas.
