Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Janice L’Hommedieu, 58, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. She was born in Hood River, Oregon, on Feb. 27, 1967, and grew up in the communities of Burns and Glenwood. She lived in Stevenson, Washington, for many years before moving to Okanogan, Washington, where she spent the past six years.
Janice was well known in the Stevenson community, working at Gretchen’s Deli and later at a local coffee shop, where she lovingly baked cookies. She enjoyed traveling with family — especially two memorable trips to Hawaii with her mother — visiting numerous National Parks, and spending time by the ocean. She was known for her vibrant spirit, loud laugh, and the deep love she shared with those around her. Janice found joy in music, dancing, coloring, and above all, her family.
As her mother often said, “Jannie is the nicest girl in the whole world,” and all who knew her would agree.
She is survived by her mother, Gretchen L’Hommedieu; brothers Will Hearn, Greg L’Hommedieu, and Matt L’Hommedieu; sisters-in-law Karmen L’Hommedieu and Dorinda Belcher; nephew Jacob L’Hommedieu; and nieces Paige and Jessi L’Hommedieu and Brenna Vick.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. at The Bridge Church of the Nazarene, 363 Jefferson Ave., Stevenson.
Janice’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her. The family encourages all who knew her to laugh loudly, love deeply, and never miss a chance to dance.
