Retired Sergeant James B. Edwards passed away of heart attack on July 24, 2025, at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, Oregon. Jim was born on Nov. 20, 1932, in Lacomb, Oregon, to Kelcy and Elsie Edwards, the last of three siblings.
He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1950, and then served in the Air Force, where he was stationed in Alaska before it became a state. He became a diesel mechanic and worked for Mack Truck in Eugene, Oregon. He met Gladyes Davis in Eugene, and they were married in 1961. They welcomed two children.
In 1963, Jim became a State Trooper. He was stationed in The Dalles, Albany, and finally Hood River, where he was post commander for 15 years. After retiring, he and Gladyes traveled by RV and visited all 50 states.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, son Craig and grandson Adam. He is survived by his wife Gladyes; daughter Kelcy (Tim), and grandchildren Devyn (Spencer), Reed, Avery (Joe) and Leah; great-grandchildren Isabel, Anekin, Caleb, Eliza and Mabel; and his dog, Teddy.
Services for Jim were held on Aug. 1 Anderson’s Tribute Center, with committal at Pine Grove Butte Cemetery. Visit www.AndersonsTributeCenter.com to leave a note of condolence for the family.
