Funeral homes often submit obituaries as a service to the families they are assisting. However, we will be happy to accept obituaries from family members pending proper verification of the death.
Jackelyn “Jackie” Kiemele was born to Miles and Lillian Lemley on June 1, 1930, in Aberdeen, Washington, and passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026.
During the 1930s, her family moved to Hood River, Oregon, where she grew up with her four siblings and graduated from Hood River High School. Jackie dedicated many years of service to the Shoreline School District in Seattle, concluding her career at Shorewood High School. In 1977, Jackie married Gordon Kiemele. Together they shared 40 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and travel, including wintering in Las Vegas, until Gordon’s passing in 2017.
Jackie is survived by her sister, Jeanne Rayburn; children, Jill Smith, Scott Gilbert, Julie Moormeier, and Joni Kovarik; stepdaughter, Sue Rozell; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; stepson Gordon Jr.; grandson Cameron; and siblings Chuck Lemley, Joanne Dethman and Colleen O’Leary.
Jackie will be remembered for her quick wit, gentle heart, devotion to family, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. A private family service will be held at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Wockner Hospice Care Center in Kirkland, Washington.
The family is extremely grateful to the hospice staff for the extraordinary and compassionate care shown to Jackie during her final days.
